PILOTS
Frequently Asked Questions
Booking, time acceleration, online versus offline flying, and where to get help.
01Do I need to book flights before flying?
Yes. Book your flight in FlightLinq before departure, and fly it within 8 hours.
02What happens if I book a flight and do not fly it?
After 8 hours an unflown booking is released back to the schedule and flagged as abandoned. Five abandoned bookings in one calendar month is an operational violation and may require staff review.
03Are there minimum monthly flight hours?
No. There is no monthly minimum. We want participation to stay flexible while still encouraging steady flying.
04What aircraft can I fly?
All of them. Every pilot has full fleet access from day one, with no rank restrictions.
05How are flights tracked and reviewed?
Flights are tracked through FlightLinq ACARS from pushback to shutdown, and PIREPs are filed automatically. Flights that meet the standards are auto-approved; others may be flagged for review.
06Do I have to fly online on VATSIM or IVAO?
No. Online flying is supported and encouraged but not required. When you fly online, network rules and ATC instructions apply. BeyondATC is supported for offline flying.
07Can beginners join Wy'East?
Yes. Pilots of all experience levels are welcome. Virtual airline experience is not required, but you should be familiar with basic simulation and airline-style operations.
08Is time acceleration allowed?
Offline only, up to 4x. Time acceleration is not allowed on VATSIM, IVAO or PilotEdge.
09What do I do after I join?
Read the Handbook, set up FlightLinq ACARS, book a flight, and fly your first trip using the published procedures. You get immediate access to the full fleet and route network after acceptance.
10How realistic are Wy'East operations?
Structured, immersive and professional, without being overly restrictive.
11Do I need real-world weather, alternates, or detailed planning?
Real-world weather is recommended but not required. Plan adequate fuel reserves and file alternates when conditions warrant. Diversions are allowed; document them in your PIREP.
12Where can I get help if I have questions?
Ask in the Wy'East Discord or through the staff support channels before you fly.
